HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The folks at St. John’s United Church of Christ are responding to the disaster victims with prayer, financial gifts, a care wash on Saturday, September 10 conducted by the young people at the church, and with “Gifts of the Heart” Personal Care Kits.

The Personal Care Kits include the following items.
• One hand towel
• One washcloth
• One comb
• One metal nail file or nail clipper
• One bar of soap (bath size)
• One toothbrush
• One tube of toothpaste (4-7 ounces)
• Six band-aids

Health Kits may be placed in one gallon plastic bags and then brought to the church at 4500 S. Prescott Ave in Lyons for distribution through the UCC Disaster Response Ministries. We have set a goal of 100 personal care kits in response to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

The United Church of Christ responds to disasters through individual congregations and through a network of Disaster Ministries Coordinators in its Conferences and Associations.
